Melissa studied Psychology at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts where she was known for her faith, her deep loyalty to friends and family, positive perspective in the face of adversity, and a fabulous ability to make people laugh! She showed the world a strong and inspiring faith, which gave her an amazing peace in the midst of devastating circumstances. Melissa's Faith
In the last month of her life, Melissa writes, "My faith has literally been my lifesaver, my foundation, and the basis for my sanity since I was diagnosed. God has given me strength in my weakness, hope in my doubt, confidence in my lack of self-esteem and a positive attitude in the midst of a potentially devastating situation."

In the same paper, Melissa also writes: "Focusing on and trusting in the Lord is the hardest, yet most rewarding thing I have had to do. I do my best to trust Him with my life, yet fear is so easily overwhelming. God's amazing peace is the only cure for a worried heart and depressed spirit. I am continually able to receive this peace through prayer."

Melissa's faith was her secret weapon that "enabled me to enjoy my very difficult and testing life."
